How YOU can support us!

There are so many ways you can help us to support brain injury survivors and their families.  Here are just a few tasters!

Corporate Support

Headway East Northants depends on the generous support of organisations and their employees. Without corporate support, we simply wouldn't be able to continue the work we do.

We enjoy strong relationships with the supermarkets Morrisons and Tesco, who offer amazing donations of food/drink/sundries for our fundraiser coffee mornings and barbecues, and even plants for our beautiful new garden.

We're thrilled to have been chosen by Wellingborough Golf Club as one of their two local charities chosen to support over 2019.

We are also very proud of the close bonds we have within the local business community. The simplest donation really can make a world of difference to us!

So think about adopting us as your 'Charity of the Year' to support, or encourage staff to fundraise for Headway East Northants. Charity involvement promotes teamwork, develops leadership skills, builds confidence and helps communication and creativity thrive.

Payroll Giving

Payroll Giving is an easy, efficient and flexible way to donate to Headway East Northants by a direct deduction from your monthly wages.

Your regular contribution will mean that Headway East Northants can continue to provide support to brain injury survivors in the long term, and will also help us to budget and plan ahead more effectively.

There are many benefits to this type of donating:

It is tax-effective, so Headway East Northants will receive both your donation, AND the tax you'd have paid on that amount - so there are no Gift Aid forms to fill in.

Payroll Giving donations are deducted before tax, so for each £1.00 you give, it will actually only cost you 80p. If you're a higher-rate taxpayer, it'll cost just 60p.

It can be for any amount - it simply depends entirely on what you feel you'd like to donate.

It enables you to budget for supporting Headway East Northants each month.

Take on a challenge!

Ever fancied doing something totally different for a great cause?

Whether it's that sponsored run or swim, bake-off contest, disco or maybe something totally crazy, we want to hear from you!

Do it - take up that challenge for Headway East Northants and raise money to support us. Each and every penny makes real differences to lives.

As an example, back in 2016, some of our supporters climbed the Giant White Mountain in Iceland, and also took part in a skydive! However, don't worry if that sort of thing is a bit too wild. We're just as delighted to hear from you if you're thinking of something like a tombola, raffle or bake sale!

Run the London Marathon!

Headway East Northants has places available in the Virgin London Marathon each year. Our team for April 2019 filled up fast, so if you've ever been tempted to take up this fantastic challenge, and are interested for 2020, we'd love to hear from you. You'll have fun, get fit and at the same time raise money that makes a huge difference to the lives of brain injury survivors and their loved ones.

We'll support you at each and every step of the way, ensuring you have everything you need so you're Run-Ready!

The Blue Badge scheme is currently being reviewed and plans are afoot to extend the Badge to those with less visible disabilities, such as brain injury.

The changes are described as the biggest being made in the scheme in almost 50 years and it's hoped that they will offer a lifeline to people with hidden disabilities who suffer from travel difficulties.

Changes will come into force on 30th August 2019.

An excellent 'Way Ahead' conference

We thoroughly enjoyed attending this year's 'Way Ahead' conference in early July. It was the ideal opportunity to share viewpoints and see the diverse range of services provided for those managing ABI. We also got to meet MP for Rhondda, Chris Bryant, who has been working incredibly hard in parliament to improve aftercare and neuro paths for those with ABI and their loved ones.
